Ash Woodworking Company encompasses the work of Ashley Martin, a self-taught craftsman sculpting predominantly out of wood. His creative influence stems from his childhood in rural southwestern PA, where summers were spent whittling in the woods and working with his father as a cabinetmaker and furniture builder. While formally trained in Aviation and Meteorology at Ohio University, Ashley began Ash Woodworking Co. in 2016 to pursue his creative endeavors. Previously focused on hand-carved, smaller projects, such as cooking utensils and jewelry, his present work aims to balance contemporary form and function while influenced by the natural  environment and its processes.
Currently located on the south side of Columbus, OH, Ashley works out of a once abandoned home, now converted into a workshop and studio space. Each piece is crafted utilizing hand tools and drawing on traditional techniques.  Abstracted from forms in nature, his work reflects an exploration of the environment and the forces which shape our surroundings. Ashley continues to push the boundaries of both his concepts and skill to maintain the integrity of each project, from conception and materials to final formation.

Gorgeous as a sculpture on its own, this jug would thrive on a console table, mantle or shelf. Add dried flowers or grasses for additional dimension and character.
